Video Editing & Production

I have led on smaller editing projects and assisted on larger ones - you can find examples of both below. I’m available for both freelance and long-term contract editing work, please contact me with any work inquiries.

Los Angeles Jewish Symphony

I’ve been on staff at the LAJS since 2018. Although I began primarily as an administrative assistant, my work responsibilities quickly grew into updating the Symphony’s digital footprint and taking over oversight of our video content.

Redesigning the Title Card

Towards the beginning of the pandemic, I was tasked with reinventing our title card to be more visually interesting and interactive. The previous logo (the distinctive treble clef with an inlaid menorah) was redesigned by artist Monica Marks, and I added playful animation to it via Apple Motion - the new version is now the opening card for all of the LAJS video content.

A Patchwork of Cultures

Each year the LAJS produces an education program called “A Patchwork of Cultures: Exploring the Sephardic-Latino Connection.” Serving over 1,000 students a year, the program brings together low-income 4th- and 5th-grade students with students from Jewish day schools, using their shared cultural ties to Spain as a way to form a bridge between the two often separate communities.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the LAJS was faced with the task of adapting their annual program for a digital platform to allow it to continue in an era of remote learning. I collaborated closely with the Managing Director and Administrative Assistant to produce a series of short videos featuring teaching artists and musicians educating the kids about history and music. The program finished with a culminating concert and an interactive Battle of the Sections, which called on students to vote for their favorite instrument section.

Included here are two examples of the lessons I edited for the project, as well as the Battle of the Sections. The full playlist with all the lessons included can be viewed here.

The Jewish Community Chorale

At the onset of the pandemic, the LAJS started a new program to produce virtual choir content. I produced several standalone videos as well as two additional full concerts for the JCC - you can find a spread of the videos I edited below.

My personal favorites include Adonai Roi, Chanukah, Oh Chanukah, and Be the Light.

Other Projects

Sub Tuum Praesidium

A spooky riff on a Christian hymn and prayer, arranged by Amy Gordon and produced by A.J. Teshin and The Teshin Company. Due to some unexpected production hurdles, I was tasked with coming up with an alternative aesthetic for the video that could utilize the limited footage and gorgeous audio production (mixed and mastered by Teshin) to maximum effect.

Steeltown Entertainment Project

As an intern at at small non-profit production company and advocacy group in Pittsburgh, PA, I was tasked with updating the organization’s archives. There was a treasure trove of interview footage in their archives that had been recorded and forgotten about after some staff turnover. I edited several videos using that footage, including videos featuring Orange is the New Black writer Lauren Morelli and animator Matt O’Callaghan.

School Project

As a student at the University of Pittsburgh, I produced a few short projects as part of my Film Studies degree coursework, most of which have been lost to time (and an young amateur’s poor file management). I did manage to salvage one of my early projects: a redesigned opening title sequence for a film I adore, Gus van Sant’s Elephant.
